The following story has been taken from Voices newspaper dated Saturday 11 August PLANS for a golf course towards Akbuk could be about to take shape once again after a directive from the ministry of Tourism.
The government department has sent the Didim Beledıye a consultation paper of plans to open for tender an 18-hole golf course and a 420-bed hotel at Mercimek, which is close to the Sultan Kent and Konya Kultur housing sites on the Akbuk road.
The ministry issued a map of the proposed golf course which is to be erected on the walls of the Beledıye for consultation purposes. Any objectors to the plans will have one month to respond.
A golf course in Didim has been widely spoken about for years – nearly as long as the marina and ferryboats to the Greek islands.
There are proposals for an 18-hole golf course on 173 acres of land.
Hopes are high that once the tender is complete and a bidder named, then the area can brace itself for golf tourists in the long run. | |
